Most bathrooms are very small and they are never fitted with storage in mind. Most bathrooms will have the usual furniture installed such as a bath, sink, toilet and shower. There is never any room to store personal items such as your shampoo, face wash, soaps and many other items. These items tend to be stored around the bathroom, either on the sink, bath or shower floor.
It makes perfect sense to install a few fixtures within the bathroom in order to keep the room neat and tidy. At the same time you do not want to spent a lot of money either. There are a few fixtures that can be bought and won’t cost too much money. You also need to think about the available space you have in the bathroom and whether these fixtures can be placed into the room.
The cheapest of all the fixtures is probably the towel rail or towel rack. They can be bought in a range of materials such as porcelain, plastic, copper, brushed nickel and chrome. The advantages of using these materials are that they are not prone to rust. Untreated metals that are placed in the bathroom will rust within a few months, so it is important to use a material that can withstand the high moisture and humidity content.
If you are looking for a simple fixture to hang a towel, then you have the option of buying a single or double towel bar. Towel bars can also go by the name of towel rails, both are the same product. They are very easy to fix to the wall and provide you with much needed space to hang a hand towel and a bath towel, if you opted for a double bar unit. The best place to fix them to the wall is near the sink and at about 4 feet from the floor.
A towel rack allows you to store more towels or even linen on a shelving section of the fixing. You can buy them with a single shelf or a double shelf. Additionally, they also come with a towel bar attached. This allows you to neatly store folded towels and linen on the shelves, but at the same time you can hang a hand or bath towel which can be used by your family or guests.
The more towels you store on these fixings the heavier the weight. You need to make sure that you utilize the correct screws and that they are attached to the wall securely. You also need to keep in mind that there could be pipes and electrical wiring within the wall cavity. So you need to be careful when drilling into the wall.
